Hong Kong - Our Last Stop Before Home

11:15 pm - Today was a very long day. We woke up at 4 this morning in order to catch our flight to Hong Kong. Even though Hong Kong is now a part of China again the flight from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong is considered an international flight. Which meant we had to go through customs and all that again. Fun fun!

Once we arrived in Hong Kong we caught a bus ride to our hotel in Kowloon. We had thought the White Swan was plush, but we weren't prepared for the 5 star grandeur of our hotel in Hong Kong. The Kowloon Shangri-La is VERY nice and we felt like vagrants walking through the lobby to check in. Our room is huge and the bathroom even has a beday (spelling?). We're too scared to try it though. Maybe we'll try it on Tyler before we leave because we're tired of changing his diapers.

We had lunch at the hotel buffet. It was incredible. The food was awesome and we were overwhelmed at the selection. We didn't even know where to begin. The selection ranged from sushi to Indian food. And then Bill had a field day in the dessert line. Chocolate fondue anyone?

After lunch we just crashed in the room and slept for much longer than we wanted too. I guess the 4 am wake up call was just a little too much for us. In any case, we didn't get out to see the town until dusk. Hong Kong is a very interesting island from the little that we did see. We wouldn't mind coming back here for a vacation later on, but right now we just want to get home with Tyler. A couple things we noticed is that it is much more modern and clean than China. There is a lot more money flowing through here (there was a Ferrari parked at the entrance to our hotel) and the clothing is a lot trendier. Not to mention there are a lot more neon signs around here! It's a very fast paced lifestyle.

Well, that's it for now. Tomorrow we leave early for the airport and home. We have a couple hour layover in Tokyo, Japan and then it's the long flight home to LAX. We're looking forward to seeing everyone. We're especially looking forward to introducing you all to Tyler.
