She's a boy?

1:46 pm - Another successful night of sleep last night. Tyler pretty much sleeps through the night without a peep. He's seems to be the perfect little boy!

There was not much planned for today other than shopping and more bonding with the Tyler. Then, more shopping, more bonding, etc.

Tyler is really coming out of his shell. He is much more engaged with our interactions with him than when we first met. This morning he was laughing, playing and quite a bit less 'clingy'. We took him shopping with the rest of the adoption group and he was very content with being pushed around in his stroller. Where ever we went, the women in the stores just flock around him and just dote on him. Tyler is quite the girl magnet! We discovered that he really likes Chinese girls who speak the Cantonese dialect.

What is really interesting is that every where we go, the locals are usually surprised that we adopted a boy. They all say that we are very lucky and he is a very healthy boy. While we were shopping in a major department store, several of the store employees surrounded Tyler and started talking, smiling, and doting over him. We were just trying to buy shoes for him and it appeared that the entire floor was assisting us. They were showing us girl shoes and our guide told them that we needed to see the boy's selections. One of the girls says to our guide, "She's a boy?". It is not surprising that the locals act this way because 95%+ of the adopted babies are girls and everyone expects to see little baby girls instead of boys. To further illustrate this, we found that selections for boys clothes were pretty sparse but you could find anything for a girl.

More info on Tyler:

Our guide (Cindy, see picture below) translated additional information about Tyler which came from his orphanage:

1) He does not like someone talking to him in a loud voice

2) Tyler likes to play outside (this makes him happy along with toys, tickle games, etc.)

3) He was only one day old when he was found in a Market near Chongyuan Village, Sanshan, Nanhai district. An employee of a local factory found him.

4) Alana asked the orphanage if there was anything the nannies would like us to tell Tyler when he gets older. Their response was: "You're a sweet baby. All the people from our orphanage wish you forever healthy and happy.  We'll remember you and miss you."

We included some more pictures below taken this morning and while we were shopping. Enjoy!
